“ PooCorn get your PooCorn here!!”
You may be wondering if I’m purposefully misspelling the word “popcorn” or if I just made a typo.
Well, yes I’ve decided to start calling “popcorn”, poo-corn!
When I think of popcorn the first thing that comes to mind is burning the first couple of layers of skin off my finger tips trying to open the microwave popcorn bag before it had time to cool. I know I’m not the only one.
Or maybe you think of going to the movie theater and somehow spending $65 dollars on a large bucket of gooey buttery popcorn and a pack of twizzlers.
Poor poo-corn, nobody is aware of the true gifts this little popped cloud has to offer.
Regardless if you are preparing for competition, want to improve your health or just want to begin your day with a nice poop, you should be eating more popcorn!
Here’s the low down on this little popped goodness.
Digestion: Popcorn is a whole grain, meaning it is an unrefined grain and still has the bran and germ intact which is stripped away in refined grains. The bran and germ is where protein, fiber and many important vitamins and minerals are located! The fiber in popcorn will keep you “regular” if you know what I mean…If not, it will make you poop and will make you poop poops worthy of a king or queen! There is nothing like not being “full of shit!” 😉
Polyphenols: Maybe you haven’t heard about polyphenols but I bet you have heard of antioxidants. These antioxidants are found in fruit, veggies and guess what?! They are also present in our little popcorn friend. Antioxidants play a key role in maintaining good health, slowing the aging process and boosting immunity.
Basically popcorn is making you healthy from the inside out! And not to mention is super easy to make.
WARNING: Not all popcorn is created equal!
This means no microwaved, flavored popcorn bags. They are packed with artificial flavorings and unhealthy fats. If you want to hop on the popcorn train make sure to buy only organic whole kernels which can usually be found the in bulk section of you natural grocery store and pop with a small amount of coconut oil or use an air pop machine. I prefer the air pop machine! Add a little grass fed butter and some sea salt and go to town!!
